Detail FIX
Developed by Digital Frontier Inc.
Genre Action, Comedy
Format 26 episodes x 22 minutes
Release Unknown, likely Cancelled

Mighty No. 9: The Animated Series was going to be the action/comedy adaptation of Mighty No. 9 for television.

The show was being developed by Digital Frontier Inc. as it was first announced July 5th at Anime Expo 2014 in Los Angeles.

However, due the game's lackluster sales and reception the animated series was put on indefinite hiatus with no word on a release date, and suggesting the project has been cancelled. It's worth noting that on the Digital Frontier website the trailer is referred to as a "TV animation series proposal", suggesting that perhaps it was merely a pitch that was never picked up by any networks.

Summary[]

"Half human, half robot, all Mighty"

In the year 2099, humans have become dependent on robots not just for manual labor but also entertainment. The most powerful robots in the world fight in front of humans in a popular league called the Battle Colosseum.

BECK is a small combat robot made to fight in the Battle Coliseum as a part of the MIGHTY NUMBERS, the strongest robots in the world. But since Beck is the only robot in the world with a human heart, he's also the only robot that gets scared in combat. The good news is that he also possesses the ability to turn into any other robot. The bad news is that since his emotions are wired to his abilities, he often finds himself malfunctioning in battle. One day a notorious engineer named DR. BLACKWELL releases a virus that infects every robot in the world...everyone except Beck. Dr. Blackwell remotely controls the infected Mighty Numbers to lead a rebellion to destroy mankind. Beck suddenly becomes the only robot available to stop the Mighty Numbers.

As Beck tries to save the world, he will be joined by CALL, his overly serious robotic sidekick; DR. WHITE, the young but socially inept creator of the Mighty Numbers; and DR. SANDA, the lazy but wise team leader. With each of their help, Beck will learn how to deal with his emotions and become the hero they need him to be.

Trivia[]

  • Beck's change from blue to white was revealed early by the trailer before comcept's update #78 on November 10th, 2014.
  • The characters' design seem to be based on the early beta of the game.
  • The the design for ReXelection: Battalion is drastically different from the final game.
  • Beck is portrayed as a screwball during the trailer, with his control over the Mighty Numbers' weapons being rather poor.
  • The first sentence on the synopsis "Half human, half robot, all Mighty" would go to imply Beck is in reality a sort of cyborg.
  • The synopsis specifically calls Dr. Blackwell as the responsible for the robot uprising and is the one controlling the Mighty Numbers, even though in the video game is revealed that Blackwell was trying to prevent such thing and in reality it was caused by Trinity. It's unknown if the show was to take this literally or play a similar plot twist like the game.
